So I'm having to push my art commissions hard right now due to an emergency....

I recently got a hospital bill from my visit to the ER back on February 11th, my bosses thought it would be a "FANTASTIC" Idea to drop the news on me when i got back that they were cutting me down from Salary to Hourly, this is really bad because now i make even less and even with both paychecks for this month now, if I were to pay my ER bill monthly ( which is about 6.5k, and the monthly fee is $277) i won't even be able to pay for my house rent, nor afford food or the medication that keeps my migraines under check

Ngl I'm excited, it may just be for his steamboat willie self but its still a interesting moment, and i kinda wanna see what other character designers/Artists are gonna do with him since he'll be fair game, along with peter pan too if i'm not mistaking

I know touching his more modern look is a deathwish, but eventually in time that one will be fare game too

I kinda wanna get a bunch of people together and do like a "Not Mickey" art collab were everyone shows off their own versions of the mouse bastard(Animeated, Illustrated, etc), sounds like it would be fun :)

One of my greatest weakness as an artist was the fact that struggle very hard at drawing women, Kids and unconventionally attractive women? easy, but a regular plain jane pretty lady? that was hard, before anytime i drew one some would be off: shoulders would be way to broad, the boobs would look like they had breast cancer with one being bigger than the other or i'd accidently make the faces to manly, I'd almost given up on drawing women since i always felt they came out looking jank as hell.

but that changed: i recently took a class for posing for animation which was hosted by Tina Nawrocki, one of the cuphead animators and the one who made my fave boss, and i learned a lot more in her class than I did in Art school

and got a lot of good feedback from her on where and how i need to improve my posing and art skills,

and yesterday i had the curious thought, what if i use the techniques i learned from the class and attempt to draw a woman?

so i sat down and had a go at it and it worked, All this time the only reason my women kept coming out weird was the way i was drawing the initial sketches ( i used to just stick figure everything but i think i'm gonna stick with the new technique from here on out)

I'm still not 100% used to drawing them yet, since i'll need to keep practicing more but i'm super excited I'm getting better at it since i've always felt bad that i never could draw women properly.

I'm excited as hell that a new door opened for my art to keep improving!!

3 years. I spent 3 years dodging that gods-forsaken virus as best as I could and last weekend i got the worst luck and caught it from my brother who caught it from going to the gym (geeze thnx broski, VERY cool... = n=)

let me tell you, it sucked. like majorly sucked, I'd rather eat a years worth of half-rotten durians than go through that bullshit again. at least with durians i'd be able to adapt to their rancid taste/smell and i'd get whatever benefits there are to eating them. but the virus?? nah I lost a weeks worth of work, i almost lost my sense of smell, my taste buds got fucked sideways to the point anything remotely strawberry banana tastes like ass, i've become an even bigger air-head than i usually am, it sucked to move around a lot, and some foods trigger my nausea something fierce. I'm honestly thankful that I got the two shots and the booster cuz i do not think i would have survived the full strength virus if i didn't have the shots which is kinda scary to think about ngl.

the only good thing i can say about being stuck at home is that i got to burn through some of my back catalogue of games when death wasn't trying to make a booty call (and i got to play the dead space remake when i dropped so that was a good distraction)

ffs do your best to try and avoid catching it, its not fun and its something i would think twice about wishing upon my worst/hated of enemies and not something i'd want to spread around to folks that don't deserve it.

I'm covid free rn, but I'm gonna work harder to ensure i don't catch it again :s

I don't do animations too often (my perfectionism is a bitch and my ambition gets the better of me...)

but when i see the playback of one i've worked hard on and see it start to all come together i feel super accomplished

Like hell yeah, I made that! I made that shit move

Hell even if its something plain and simple like a ball bounce I can't help but feel excited that I made it move!

Like I forget how fun it is to make em'

Ok i haven't really had the time to let this all process and set in since I've been busy trying to get my shit together,

but HOW?? did i miss that Tom Fulp has now following me rn and two of my drawings have been front paged?!

I can't really process on how cool that is without key smashing like a dumbass, but in the simplest terms: Thank you!
